Why we built it
We're Julie Kelleher and Dr. Elizabeth Hoover, two moms in Alexandria, Virginia. We both started out as classroom teachers, then spent about 20 years each in education technology.
Elizabeth ran technology for a school district. Julie worked on the company side, bringing edtech tools into schools.
We met in 2025 and found we'd been noticing the same problem from two directions. When we compared notes on how our daughters are accessing and experiencing AI, we identified a growing AI literacy gap between kids and the trusted adults raising them at home.
We also saw something that stuck with us: when parents and kids explored AI together, the conversation changed. Instead of adults trying to catch up or kids figuring it out alone, they started learning from each other.
Enter Co-Learning AI Labs.
We're figuring this out alongside the communities we work with: families, women, educators, parents, entrepreneurs and more.

Who we are
Julie Kelleher, M.Ed. founded LIKEAMOTHER.AI™ and created Parent-in-the-Loop™, an AI literacy curriculum delivered to more than 500 parents and caregivers. A former middle school teacher and Peace Corps Volunteer, she's spent 20 years in edtech at Blackboard, DreamBox Learning, Discovery Education, and consulting for several startups and nonprofits serving K-12 districts and higher education.
Elizabeth Riddle Hoover, Ph.D. spent 30 years in public education, including 17 as Chief Technology Officer for Alexandria City Public Schools. She founded RiddleWise LLC and has spent her career believing that the hardest parts of technology are rarely technical. They are human. She brings that same belief to every Co-Learning Lab. She's also the mom of two teenage daughters, which keeps the work very close to home.
