A mother and daughter vibe coding workshop. Grades 9 to 12.
Sunday, October 18 | 3:00 to 5:00 pm | The Loop Coworking (Alexandria, VA)
Pricing: $60 mom + 1 daughter, $75 mom + 2 daughters
What is vibe coding? Using artificial intelligence to build apps, websites, or other tools simply by describing what you want in plain English, instead of writing out technical code yourself.
What to expect? Hands-on workshop using Lovable and your favorite AI app to create a working prototype, website or application. Moms and daughters daughters sitting side by side, co-creating your next innovation. No coding experience needed. Co-learn, co-create, and connect.
How it works
Before the Workshop
Choose your topic in advance. Each mother-daughter pair chooses their topic in advance. Don't worry, we'll have ideas for you to choose from ahead of time!
During the Workshop
Introductions: Why we're here, why moms and daughters, and why we chose the AI tools we'll be using (Lovable, Claude, Gemini, etc.)
Action Plan: Facilitated brainstorm and planning exercise to help you get from idea to working prototype, website or app by the end of the session.
Vibe Coding: The majority of the workshop will be the the mom-daughter pairs working together, building with AI based on your interest area.
Showcase & Next Steps: Anyone willing to share what they built will be invited to showcase to the room. Then we'll all make a plan for what comes next.
Workshop facilitators (moms and teen girls) are there to help and guide. You'll leave the session with a working, AI-powered tool that you created, together.
Vibe Coding Ideas (bring your own, too!)
Her study tool
Build a working study system for her hardest class. Load the syllabus, the readings, her notes. Get study guides, practice questions, and an audio version for the car.
The college list
Compare 8 to 12 schools on what she actually cares about. Cost after aid, distance, the major, whether they have the thing she does. Plus a clear read on where AI helps with applications and where it gets her flagged.
Run your own week
Build a planning system loaded with her real schedule. Classes, practices, shifts, deadlines. She sets the rules for how it works. Seniors build the application deadline version.
Start something
Turn her interests into a business. Name it, figure out who it's for, price it, build the first page.
What she's good at, and where it goes
Dig into what she actually likes doing, then explore majors, careers, and the classes that open doors.
Five options at signup. We'll tell you which tracks we're running about a week ahead.
What to bring
At least one laptop per pair. Use mom's account, since most AI tools require 18 or a parent's consent. Co-create together.
We bring snacks, drinks, prompts, and facilitators at every track.
Who's leading it
We're two Alexandria moms who spent careers at the intersection of education and technology. Elizabeth served as Chief Technology Officer for Alexandria City Public Schools for 17 years. Julie worked in education technology companies for nearly 2 decades. Both of us share a commitment to empowering parents and families with knowledge and skills to realize the potential benefits of AI while prioritizing safe, ethical, and responsible use.

Elizabeth Riddle Hoover, Ph.D. ran technology for Alexandria City Public Schools as CTO. She founded RiddleWise after that.
Caroline Hoover is a senior at Episcopal High School and brings the teen perspective to every session.
